A switchboard upgrade is electrical work that should be assessed by a suitably qualified electrician, particularly when a home is being renovated or circuits are overloaded.
When to ask for help
- Fuses, breakers or safety switches trip regularly, or you are adding significant electrical load.
- A renovation, new appliance, EV charger or solar work needs capacity reviewed.
What to include in your job post
- Include a clear photo of the switchboard from a safe distance and list planned electrical additions.
- Describe any recurring tripping and whether the home is occupied during the proposed work.
What can affect the scope
- The existing board, incoming supply and condition of connected circuits affect scope.
- Additional circuits, cable routes and coordination with other work may be needed.
